Paul Stancliffe has praised his side’s resilience as they saw off Notts County U18s by three goals to two.

Stancliffe was pleased with his side’s display which saw them race into a 3-0 lead, but he admits his team must be more consistent.

He said: “I thought in the first minutes of the game we were very good but after that it was a bit of a battle for us.”

“We showed glimpses of how good we can be, but we weren’t consistent enough, but when things come off it is pleasing.

“We have got to look at the other side and assess why we’re not doing that for longer periods in the game.”

The U18s boss is aiming to keep his players grounded during a run which sees the side go eleven games without a loss, which stretches back to the final months of last season.

He added: “We’re on a very pleasing run and hopefully we can keep it going, 3-2 doesn’t really tell the story, from being 3-0 up to possibly almost losing it – that’s our main concern coming out of this game.

“Hopefully this is something we’ll see improve with time, it is a learning curve for them, but you have to learn really quickly and in fairness they have done so far.

“This is the first time this season that they’ve had this blip – and that is bound to happen, and it is something we have to rectify but they have to take these things on board.”
