Brown: 'It Was A Brilliant Feeling'

22 August 2012

Having spent most of last season on the sidelines, striker Chris Brown is out to prove a point and cement his place in the starting line-up.

Brown, who has scored three goals in three games including the winner against Bury, revealed he enjoys playing alongside a player like Billy Paynter.

After going a goal down early against the Shakers, Brown spoke of the belief in the camp that the result will be in favour of Rovers come the final whistle.

‘We got off to a terrible start; we invited pressure giving fouls and corners away and ultimately a goal.

‘We managed to score before the break and it was a great goal; we moved the ball about which is what the gaffer asked us to do.

‘We went in at half time and he [Dean] said that we will get chances, whether it’s the 89th minute, we will do it we just need keep believing – thankfully I was in the right place and managed to stick it away.

‘The goal happened so quick I didn’t have time to think about it, I had a quick look at the linesman because I wasn’t sure whether I was offside or not - I was delighted to score it was a brilliant feeling.

‘The manager told us to keep battling and we will get a chance and it payed off.

‘I’ve always enjoyed playing alongside a bigger player specially someone like Billy who share the workload, is mobile and likes getting the ball into his feet.

‘Hopefully the more we play together the more we can interlink.

‘I’m enjoying my football, I enjoy playing with the lads and I’m looking forward to every game.’
