Tomlinson visits Portugal

16 July 2014

Louis overlooks warm weather training.

Rovers’ future co-owner Louis Tomlinson cast his eye over pre-season preparations when he turned up to see Paul Dickov’s men in action against Huddersfield Town in midweek.

Doncaster-born Tomlinson, alongside former Rovers chairman John Ryan, is expected to complete the takeover of the football club this Friday and is excited by what he’s seen so far.

“It’s the boyhood dream really, a lad from Donny turns up to Portugal in the nice weather, sits down and sees his local team out in the sunshine so happy days.

“It’s been nice to come down, its a great complex. It’s a shame about the result but the new lads look great - Bailey in particular so I’m excited for the season,” he said.

While James Bailey has not yet signed for the club and Rovers succumbed 3-1 to their Yorkshire counterparts courtesy of James Vaughan’s hat-trick, Tomlinson was in buoyant mood.

“I appreciate that they have to be so disciplined to keep running and they look fit and they look strong.

“The plan is to go straight back up and I think we've got the players here to do that and there's definitely the belief and ambition, so hopefully all that, combined with a little bit of luck and we'll get there,” he said.
