Neil Sullivan Departs

11 July 2013

Doncaster Rovers can today confirm that goalkeeper Neil Sullivan has left the club.

Sullivan, who joined Rovers from local rival Leeds United, spent five and a half years as a Doncaster Rovers player however turned down the opportunity to extend his stay at the club further.

The former Scotland international enjoyed many successes with Rovers helping the club to victory in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final at the Millennium Stadium, the Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium and most recently the npower League One title.

Neil played a major part in Rovers four season stay in the Championship last time round and after making over 200 appearances for Rovers he leaves the club as one of the most respected players in recent seasons.

Manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player about Neil’s departure:

“Neil goes with everyone’s best wishes,” he said

“Sully is a guy that I have played with in the international team and had a very short time as his manager but he is a top professional and a top guy.

“We put an offer in to him to stay on in the playing side but also to maybe get involved in an ambassadorial role within the club too.

“He has had something that has been put to him which he feels will prolong his career a little bit longer - he goes with everybody’s best wishes.

“He will be missed around the place; right through from the chairman, myself, the players, the staff and the supporters we all wish him the best.”

Doncaster Rovers Football Club would like to wish Neil all the best for the future and thank him for his service to the club.
