Key players to return

21 April 2017

Darren Ferguson looks set to have a number of key players back for this weekend’s game at Wycombe Wanderers.

Captain James Coppinger, along with Andy Butler, Ian Lawlor and Liam Mandeville are all in the frame for a return with Rovers needing six points from their remaining three games to secure the Sky Bet League Two title.

“From the game on Monday, we could have four or five big players back in the team which would massively strengthen us going into a game we’re wanting to win,” said Ferguson.

“We’ve got good concentration levels throughout the spine of the team, with Copps coming back in he will have a big influence in the game against Wycombe.

“It’s in our hands with three games to go, we won’t be looking at Plymouth’s result if we do our job so therefore we have to make sure we pick up three points.”

Rovers travel to Adams Park with their opponents just two points off a play-off place, and the manager is expecting a tough encounter.

“It’s a tight league, this game will be similar to the last two in the sense that both teams will be going out there to try and win the match,” he added.

“They matched us up when they played us here, a couple of mistakes that day cost us the win but the one thing we expect is a tough game with a good atmosphere.

“We’re all very calm about the situation, all we can do is beat the next team in front of us and if we do that we’ll be one step closer to winning the title.”
