It was a quick turnaround for Doncaster Rovers following the weekend defeat at Bramall Lane. Interim manager Rob Jones was forced to name himself in the starting eleven due to Gary MacKenzie’s suspension, and James Horsfield made his debut for Rovers having signed on a month long loan from Manchester City.

Having made four changes, the home side started the match brightly and were winning the battle in midfield. Chances came early on with good link up play between Andy Williams and James Coppinger. With Williams crossing the ball in Keshi Anderson looked to get on the end of it but his header was flicked wide.

Swindon’s first chance of the game came through Henrik Ojamaa who found space to shoot on the edge of the area when the ball fell to him, however Cedric Evina was quick to put in a sliding block and stop his shot.

Andy Williams had the best chance of the half to put Rovers ahead. Lovely work from Coppinger saw him send his defender one way and then another before delivering a ball into the box. Unmarked Williams headed towards goal but his effort was wide of the target.

Shortly before half time Jones was replaced by Aaron Taylor-Sinclair with what looked like an injury. Anderson continued to cause problems up front and playing in Williams, the striker couldn’t get his shot on target to test Tyrell Belford.

HALF TIME: Rovers 0-0 Swindon

After a positive first half from Rovers, Swindon came out in the second half and took the lead almost straight away. A simple ball from Fabien Robert over the top caught the Rovers back line out, letting it bounce once over his shoulder Nicky Ajose lobbed the ball over Thorsten Stuckmann.

Jose almost doubled his tally minutes later as he beat the offside trap but one on one with Stuckmann the Rovers keeper made a good save.

Dany N’Guessan was introduced for Rovers and changed the game going forward as the home side looked to break down the Swindon back line. The substitute almost got the equaliser as he got on the end of a good delivery from debutant Horsfield, but Belford saved well.

With fifteen minutes to play Keshi Anderson got the goal that both he and Rovers deserved. Picking up the ball on the left, he created space for himself before cutting inside and curling the ball into the bottom corner, a great finish.

The game turned and with Rovers on top they nearly got a second as a Williams flick on to N’Guessan in the area allowed him to fire at goal, but again Belford saved well.

With ten minutes to play the referee awarded the home side a penalty when Coppinger was bought down heading towards goal.

Williams confidently stepped up and made no mistake in slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

With five minutes of added time Jon Obika struck again at the Keepmoat for the second season running and the visitors got a 93rd minute equaliser. Coming from a corner, Obika rose above everyone and heading the ball at goal Stuckmann was beaten.

With not enough time left to get a winner the referee blew for full time and the game ended at 2-2.
